Select frame size
What bike frame size do I need?
At Netherlands Secondhand Bikes, we want you to cycle comfortably, safely and with confidence. Choosing the correct frame size is therefore very important. A bike that is too small or too large can cause discomfort in your back, neck, shoulders or knees.
Use the frame size tables below as a guide to easily choose the right bike size.
Understanding bike frame sizes
The frame size of a bicycle is measured in centimetres. It is the distance from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube.
Choosing the correct frame size provides:
- A comfortable riding position
- Better control of the bike
- Easier and safer mounting and dismounting
- Less strain on your back, neck and knees
- More efficient cycling

Frequently asked questions
Is frame size important?
Yes. An incorrect frame size can cause physical discomfort and make cycling less comfortable.
Can I use the same frame size for every bike?
Not always. Electric bikes, transport bikes and sportier bicycles can feel different depending on their design and riding position.
What if I am exactly between two sizes?
It depends on your preference:
Sportier riding = smaller frame
More comfort = larger frame
Can the saddle still be adjusted?
Yes. The saddle and handlebars can be adjusted further to improve your riding comfort.
Please note: The sizes above are guidelines. Body proportions, leg length and personal preference can all affect the ideal frame size.
